| Hi all My motherboard fried and I installed a new setup (motherboard, processor, and ram). When I tried to bootup XP would not allow the boot to happen, kept throwing me back to "your last atempt to boot did not work". I tried booting in safe mode, last known good, normal, and got nowhere. Did a repair install of XP and broke IE7. I found out after that this is a known problem with repair. Problem was I didn't know before I did and even if I had I couldn't uninstall since I couldn't boot up. Is there a way to repair IE7 without having to reformat and reload everything? Would reinstalling IE 7 over itself work? I would like to save my fav's etc if possible since I don't remember everything I have there and most are set up to remember passwords. Thanks to all for your help |

| Trying it would not hurt it might reload something that is missing in IE7.

| Consider trying Firefox: Get Firefox On first launch, select "Import from Internet Explorer". You should hopefully have all of your favourites, etc imported and then you can back it up.

| First of all thanks for the help. I setup firefox and imported the favs and everything is there. I then uninstalled ie and reinstalled ie7 and all is up and running. I went back to 7 since it never gave me any serious trouble and will use firefox for most browsing. The big reason I wanted ie back is windows update. Thankfully I have multiple systems so I could get on line, get answers, and download the programs. Thanks again. |
