seriously, what's up with AIM not having spell check? how hard would it have been to add this in software made for communication? i cannot even find a plug-in that will do the job. LAME!

I tried Pidgin. The interface is too much like software from the 1980s. It's bland and I don't even see support for video conferencing. That don't impress me much!

Okay... Try Trillian. I use the dictionaries for it as well. It is multi-IM-platform, and as close to the full independant version you can get. But alas, some features are lacking.

Oh, it has a spyware attached to the installer-wrapper. If you don't mind, it's there free to use.

i had trillian for a few years because running 3 im apps on my P4 would kill performance... but now i run them all by themselves

AIM has spyware attached to it as well. I believe it's called Viewpoint.
