Default Firefox Addons You Must Get!

Here are some firefox addons that are simply a must to have nowadays for browser protection and convenience:

No Script- basically prevents scripts from being run on the page without consent.

Adblock Plus- you can manually block ads on a page.

Flashblock- this addon blocks flash scripts from starting (i.e. those annoying video ads.) You have the option of running them by simply clicking on them.

IE Tab- this addon allows instant switching between the IE engine and Firefox engine. No more opening and closing of various browsers.

Super DragAndGo- Drag a link or anything like a uri (e.g. "abc.com" ), and throw it to anywhere blank on the webpage to open the it in a new tab.

Tab Effect
- OK this one isn't needed, but it adds a fun 3D transition effect when you change between tabs.

StumbleUpon- this adds an option on your toolbar that allows you to "channel surf" on the web. Once clicked it brings up random relevant web pages based on the content of the page you were looking at. It is great for killing time!

FlashGot- Download one link, selected links or all the links of a page together at the maximum speed with a single click.

Download Statusbar- View and manage downloads from a tidy statusbar - without the download window getting in the way of your web browsing.

VideoDownloader- Download videos from Youtube, Google, Metacafe, iFilm, Dailymotion, Pornotube... and other 60+ video sites ! And all embedded objects on a webpage (movies, mp3s, flash, quicktime, etc) ! Directly ...

Fasterfox, not sure how it works, I don't know any of the tech specs on it, it may be the placebo effect for all I know, but as far as I can tell, Fasterfox improves load time dramatically, though like I said, it's possibly a placebo effect, though they give some tech reason for it there.

FasterFox - Improves load time dramatically IMO.

ForecastFox - Tells you the temp in your area (by zip code) right in the bottom pane of your screen, and a mouse-over tells you current conditions, clicking on it can give you hourly, etc. etc. - very helpful tool. Not sure if I'm allowed to contribute to this or not, but those I have installed on all my comps, they come in handy, or at least I think so.

EDIT:
OMG: I just installed tab effect - that is completely awesome - complete rip off of mac's multi-desktop feature, but I'm loving it, thanks for that, man.

Well I don't know anything about the technical mumbo jumbo about it, but for the majority of stuff, faster fox can load a page faster :-\.

As for tab effect, I guess that varies, I mean obviously it's a direct copy of mac OS X's "change desktop" feature when you're running multi-desktops - but it runs well on my comp, keeps the picture all the way until you can't see it any more and the new one starts coming in, doesn't "white" anything like you're describing. It must vary from comp to comp.

Great list.

But, I would like to recommend, "Screengrab!". It's a great extension, that lets you take a screenshot of a webpage. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1146

My Favs include: 1) NoScript 2) AdBlocker 3) Filterset G for AdBlocker 4) Download helper 5) Download StatusBar 6) FireFTP 7) Flashgot 8) IEtab (to see how IE renders in firefox)

I read how some ad supported sites are trying to drop any firefox support because of adblocker. What good it it if we use the IE-tab, NoScript and Adblocker. We still have all we need!!
