| I personally prefer BitTorrent, which I use to download [copyright free] films and software.

| I've never used one but since I downgraded my net access to 2meg last week [it's cheaper and my ISP will be rolling out faster speeds anyway soon] I might try it. Usually though I just leave my computer on all day while I'm at school and when I come home it's done.

| To be honest, in my opinion and experience, there are no 100% "safe" P2P networks. Anything you download from another users computer has the potential of being infected (either deliberately or accidentally) with virus', spyware, worms, malware, hijackers, etc. Of all the P2P networks I know of, the files available for download are provided by many sources/users: one single application will have packets of data that are imported from hundreds of sources, ... that came from hundreds of sources, ... that came from hundreds of sources, ... and so on. By the time you have the entire application is on your desktop, it has probably been installed in thousands of computers before yours. And what's the chance, of the one thousand computers it has resided on, that ONE will be infected? It only takes one! ZoneAlarm recently published an article that reported 40% off all computers in a commercial environment are infected. That is a staggering figure. Do I use P2P? Yes! occasionally, when I need files that are not readily available on the web. The file types I download using P2P are generally .dll or tar.gz files from open-source software apps. But 98% of all files on the P2P networks are illegal, and have to be filtered and researched for copyrights. There is a lot of crazy stuff on P2P networks. Always use caution, and trust no one. |

| I have been using software for years and I *humbly* suggest you try getting AVIRA antivirus (best free one out there...AVG is a piece of s__t and Norton is overrated) and Spybot for spyware! Nevertheless, there is no perfect solution and p2p is not recommended - not simply because it is often illegal but also because many of the files you think you are downloading are files that you actually don't want,e.g., you download "Staind - Outside" (even at Itunes for $2.99) and you instead get some bitchy Rihanna song. |

| Avast'll still generally pick up more than AntiVir.
