Hi there tillerman5,

Firstly , welcome to CompuForums. I hope that you can visit our forum often in the future and post - rather than just receive our advice, fix your problem and then disappear - doing so is unfair and considered rude, particularly to those who have helped you. We provide our help for free, and all we ask in return is that you participate in our forum and refer your friends, or consider a premium membership.

It may be possible for us to fix the issue that prevents your computer from starting up in the first place. If you'd like us to do that, then let us know. If not - can you tell us if you can see any other data on the drive, and what file system and OS is installed onto it?

Default My Apologies

Hello Ashley,
I am sorry if I appeared rude. This is my first time with forums.
I will try to participate , but as you can probably tell I am not very well versed in computers, and there many problems.

That being said, I would love to have the computer working rather than re-formatting the hard drive.

What I have is a Pentium 4, with 512 ram, 80 gig hard drive, running XP.
The machine was working fine, then the next morning it wouldn’t boot up. My children said they didn’t do anything, and the only thing I had done was set up outlook express, and transferred 687 emails.
I have tried to boot in safe mode, and with the XP c.d. It won’t boot at all.
Any thoughts?
Tillerman5
