Simply because Microsoft have released it as an "update", and continue saying that it's "more secure". Plus many people do not even know about Firefox. In my opinion, IE7 is just a complete copy of Firefox. I wouldn't be surprised if the two browsers share code.

I use Firefox though I have IE7 as well. I like FF because I can change the skin (or theme as they call it)and because of all the different ad-ons they have.

Even though Microsoft says it's more secure, don't believe every word from Bill Gates. They just do it so people will use IE7. But Firefox I think is better. Since early 2006, Microsoft has made some pretty bad stuff, like IE7 and Windows Live Mail. I also agree with Ash that it's a copy of Mozilla Firefox. It's almost completely alike, just different GUI. And copying is so unprofessional!

Well IE7 is pretty good BUT not as good as Firefox. IE7 still has a lot of security holes in it. So Firefox is the better browser in my opinion.

FireFox is slow and not many people know about it. Also many people are fine with IE and most people are not willing to just change. How do you change the skin on FireFox?

I think that is because IE is more famous so that's the browser people would try to figure out holes in. If more people used FireFox you would soon see that more people would find problems with it. Also IE is more famous because IE comes with Microsoft computers and not many people have time or want to change that.

I moved back to IE simply because firefox didn't work well with front pager server extensions, when administering IIS for front page server extensions, I was always promted for a username and password. Tried all solutions from other message boards, but nothing worked, so unfortunately it seems easier to use IE. But i do prefer firefox.

You can simply use an extension called IEtab which will let you surf using Firefox, but can be set to load specified pages automatically using IE, but from within a tab in Firefox.
Get it from mozdev.org - ietab: index.

So then you get the best of both worlds, right?

I just use IE7. I have barely heard of Firefox and I have IE7 already so I don't see a need to switch.
