Hi MPaciu and welcome to CompuForums. I hope that you come back to this forum even after we have resolved this issue and it would be great if you could add yourself to our member map.

Here is the official advice from Microsoft:
Quote:
If you have access to a Windows XP setup CD, or if both computers are running Windows XP, you can use its Files and Settings Transfer (FAST) wizard to transfer both files and settings for Outlook Express as well as for a very large number of other applications. If you select to transfer only Outlook Express, the wizard creates a single compressed file that contains a copy of your entire Outlook Express Identity, including your mail and news folders, your account settings, your custom views, custom toolbars and all other user settings. You run the wizard on your old computer to create the file, burn the file to CD or other media, then run the wizard again on the new computer and point it to your transfer file. The rest is automatic.
We can help you through the process outlined above or if you do not have access to an XP cd or you're not running XP on both computers then we can use another method.

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. I did some searches on the net and found a program that does what I want:
Outlook Express Backup Genie

I think I will get my feet wet with it and if I have problems I'll send a reply here.

Good luck. If you have problems with it or not please come back and let us know how you got on - and we would love it if you could post in our community even after you've done this.

Default The easiest way

Well, in my opinion, the easiset way, if you're running Windows XP, is to manually copy the outlook express data folder. This is located in

c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\identities\(some uninterpretable number)\Microsoft\outlook express

If you copy all of this information from the outlook express folder into a different folder, and then copy it to your new computer in the same directory, and start OE, you should see everything as on your previous computer. That is assuming you're using windows XP on both machines. All of your settings should remain intact--as if you just mirrored it all to your new computer. Hope that helps.
