Default PSU question

Hello,
I just bought a "Corsair TX650" PSU. also got hands on a P4 3.20ghz dc7600 convertible minitower with (I think) a RF118UC motherboard.
are the two compatible?

thanks for any help

Can't find any info on the RF 118uc mobo. Is there a brand name on the mini tower? Any other names anywhere? Is the mini tower fairly new? Most psu'a are compatible with mobos.

Found it. The puter is an HP Compaq DC7600. It is a business computer and the power supply in it is 240 watts with 2 sata, 1 pata and 1 fdd connectors. Why would you want to put that much power into this unit? Seems like overkill. Take the cover off and see if they are physically the same size. If they are the same size you could swap them. You can see it here at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...&lang=en&cc=us and at http://h18007.www1.hp.com/products/q...12253_div.HTML

The reason is... I put a big power hungry video card in it, plus a few other things. It wont be that fast, but should game ok. The old PSU was a 365w
way to small. I coulda gotten buy with a 450w but I may upgrade and I'll have a nice PSU if/when I do.

thanks for the help

will your video card work at full power with only mobo supplied power? see if there is an external power jack on the card, and make sure any PSU you have can drive it.

Thanks for the reply,
the vid card is just a GTS 250 1g 256bit. and it does require an external power supply. the old PSU was just a 365w. with a mighty small harness. gonna be hard to shoehorn all that new stuff into a minitower. but where is the challange of makeing a big gameing box better. it will be fun to make a wimpy office computer into a fairly nice gameing box. that would be my definition of (case/computer mods)....... just learning here tho

thanks again for your time all

till next time

If you get a new PSU... focus on Modular. insert only the rails you need.
