Hi Newbie here, I hope I put this in the right thread, bare with me.
I just ordered a new Intel MB (DG33FBC LGA 775),CPU (Pentium E2180 Allendale Dual core),Liteon sata DVD Burner with lightscribe, and 2GB 1x2 DDR2 crucial memory, All from Newegg. I have a 160gb Sata HD that I'm using now and will be installing it in the upgrade. My question is do I have to format the HD, it's has winxp home edition on it already along with all my other things.

Well, no, what would be the reason for formating the HDD? if it has the OS you want on it then just leave it as it may cuase problems to the HDD if the format is not needed. Also, when buying the HDD, did it come with things on it? or is is brand new? If it came with things on it, then take a look at whats on it and if it seems wierd or fishey, then format it. But unccessasary formats could cuase damage in the long run

It's a new HD I've had it about a month, I formatted the HD when I first installed it. I didn't think I had to format it, but I just wanted to be sure. I'm new at this stuff so better safe than sorry. Thanks for your reply. It helped a lot.
