I'm trying to learn as much as possible and my father's computer had this problem a while ago. How do you go about using the command fixmbr after running windows xp recovery?

Well the problem with that is that the HD works in my old machine right now if I put it back in. So it has to be something in the settings of the new machine.

You run the windows xp disk from boot and select repair then enter fixmbr
