Quality and speed of graphics processing depends by 70% on the graphic card (it's chip, virtual memory) and 30% on the processor.
You may have the last generation graphics card but if your processor is slow, you won't be able to achieve the maximum performance from your graphic card.

What exactly is the type of gaming computer you had built - hdd.ram.processor,motherboard.......I could go on and on and on..........You could actually get a more direct answer per your situ. if this was known!!!

I think he is asking if two 8600's in sli is better then one 8800.Well to answer this I dont need all the info the other people need, only newer md's have sli or support 8800 series cards and those mb's also support the newest cpus and every thing else.So if you have just had a pc built and your friend has a newer computer all so then they probably have about the same specs
if thats the case,I believe that the 8800 would be better because of the 8800 superior memory and clock speeds and other things that are important(I dont know much about video cards).search for benchmarks of the cards and then compare.Or better yet download benchmark software and see who scored highest or something.
