Default Intel Core Duo problem

I recently installed an Intel Core Duo 3.0ghz CPU, on my Vista PC. When I go to the system properties it lists only a 900mhz clock speed. Do I need a replacement CPU or is there a setting I'm missing.

Hi JaguarJerison,
Firstly welcome back to CompuForums. Remember that if you can't help us by making a couple of posts that are not related to your own problems we cannot help you. These do not need to be technical at all.

What motherboard do you have? It could be that the CPU is simply clocking down and when you check in Sys Properties it reports this clocked down value. Consider using another stats program.

I tried another program to get my system specs, and one part listed CPU speed at near 3.0, but max clock speed at 900. Not to mention other programs are seeing the CPU at running only at 900mhz.

Try this, whatever app you are using open it, then do a antivirus scan and see if the cpu speeds up to meet the power demand
