| Hi tmm5899, Firstly welcome back to CompuForums. Remember that if you can't help us by making a couple of posts that are not related to your own problems we cannot help you. These do not need to be technical at all. Is it a broadband or dialup modem?

there are several things to check. first look in your device manager and see if the modem is listed, right click on my computer, properties, hardware, device manager, +modems, right click on your modem, diagnostic, and query. after the query see if everything is successful. also what type of computer is it. You can go to their website and look for answers. |

If the sound works from the back audio port, but not the front, check to see if the front port is plugged into the motherboard/sound-card. It will have a cable running to somewhere. If it doesn't, then it needs a cable. The front port is usually controlled by the same sound card (in most cases plugging into the front port inactivates the rear port). There is a chance that the front port went bad. I have seen that occur on a machine at work. Still, what OS is on the computer? How old is the machine in question? This is mostly out of curiosity, I admit. |
