Default Gaming Computer

Hey guys, do any of you have recommendations for a gaming computer that can run orange box, oblivion, and gears of war on 1500$? Also gears of war would run on XP right? I really don't want to have to buy Vista.

do you mean a pre built computer ( dell, hp , acer etc) or a custom built computer?

you can build a computer that can run those games for far less than $1500(that's US dollars, right?)

i want to build my own computer. and if i could spend less money than that, that would be great. but i would also want to play games like css. i dont feel like dumping 2k+ into my first computer i plan to build. i figure i can always upgrade when i get the money. but right now im saving up to 1500 us dollars

although my tech teacher said anymore its getting to be less expensive to buy an entire computer than the individual parts.

and it seems like mass produced parts would be less expensive than individually boughten parts. so i dont know if i want to build my own, IF and only if i can find a prebuilt computer that is less expensive, but will still run games/other things.

there are plenty of pre built systems that will run those games just fine, but you are limited to what is available for the amount of money you want to spend. with a spare screen and $600 i built a computer that runs some fairly new games very well. but, if you do not want to get into building your own system, then it is perfectly fine to buy one from a reputable builder. most of the systems they build are upgradable if you see fit to do so in the future.

how much money do you think i would have to spend on a computer if i wanted to play games that are out for platforms like the 360, at 360 quality on a computer.

one of my friends said his computer can RUN oblivion, but if he fights more than one enemy at a time it lags like a B. haha i dont want to spend money on a computer that makes cornering enemies on games harder than actually playing them..

2,000 in a computer should do as well as a 360

see thats one thing i dont like about computers. you could buy a 360 and get maybe 4 years of play where all the games are made FOR the 360, and then a new system comes out. but with computers you have to not only dump money into it initially, but then keep it up to date, because its technology becomes outdated every 16 months. im thinking about just getting a 360. Also when you said it would cost about 2000 for a computer to run like a 360, were u including monitor mouse and keyboard? I think i would be able to get those separate.

man i just checked out aeoncraft, and i guess i can get a computer MADE for me for around 2000 including monitor. and its a pretty cool lookin computer with intel duo, and NVIDIA geforce 8800 ultra or somethin like that. but it strikes me funny that so many other providers are much more expensive. anyone know why? do you guys know if aeoncraft is reputable? i remember someone mentioning it in another thread, so i checked it out and it seems awesome, but once again, i don't want to hand over 2000 and end up with a pos.

You can certainly get a good comp through Alienware or Aeoncraft for $2k. You get some good warrantys as well.

You can definitely squeeze more performance out of $2k by building it yourself, but you lack the convenience of a 'bumper-to-bumper' warranty and direct tech support.

Seeing as neither of those matter to me at this stage in my computer life, I'd build my own. (which I just did )

This comes to $1444.93 before taxes and shipping. You can avoid taxes if you live in a state that does not have a newegg hub in it. Shipping should be around $50. This leaves you with ~$500 for a monitor and any accesories (extra fans, power cords, etc.) you may want.

There isn't a game out there that this rig won't handle, at the moment. The new release, Crysis, should run as smooth as silk when it lands next month.
