what about an OS for a gaming computer? i should probably go with xp right? dont most games run specifically for XP unless you get like a version for mac os?

i think xp would be the best os for gaming because it doesnt use as many resources as vista

oh im definitely not going with vista. i heard its a process hog. but do you think ubuntu (even though its free) be inferior to xp? it wouldn't be compatible with as many games would it?

No ubuntu is junk with games .. all Operating systems other than windows are.

Xp will run games before the release of vista , but most of what is newer ( especally if associated with microsoft) will be made for Vista only ..

damn it. i hate how microsoft automatically outdates everything that isnt whats most expensive! at least sony kept up the ps2 after the ps3 came out. did the original xbox get any attention? no. neither will xp. do you guys think crysis will run on xp?

man i hope games like fable 2 will. does anyone really have any recommendations for hard drives? i know my friends just like crashed a partition, so ill have to see what brand that is, but are there any brands that kind of stand out so far as performance/reliability go?

Hoping for what? I know for sure that it works for xp. I've even tried the demo on xp and it works. The only thing is, you can't set gfx to very high unless you use the hack.
