it could have been anything .... but i hope its the drivers because you possibly could have damaged your sound out put on the mobo.... but that would be bad

Sorry for not making this clear, the integrated audio doesn't eject from the mobo, what I meant is that the audio ports come up out of the motherboard, but I now know that it is integrated(built on) audio

Try these things so we can get a better impression of what the problem is:

1. Test you're speakers/headphones on another audio device and make shure they're working.

2. See if the little silver box that has the audio parts in it is somewhat loose off the motherboard.

3. Make sure that you're plugging in your speakers/headphones into the correct audio port.

4. Go to Start Menu>Conrol Panel>Sound and Audio Devices. And tell us what audio device you have.

5. Test your audio by playing a sound file or by clicking on the sound icon in on the right end of your taskbar and raising/lowering the audio lever.

Also it looks like your heatsink is clogged up with dust. If I were you I'd take off the heatsink replace the thermal paste and clean out the heatsink with compressed air.

the yellow game port and audio block cannot be removed ...don't try! Given that it's obviously an older board the OS should have integrated drivers and give out some sound.
Can we get an audio chipset? The small chip beside the RAM surrounded by the green square looks like the audio processor, can you post what the top line says?
