Default Upgrading Laptop Processor

My Acer Aspire3000 has an Mobile AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.8 GHz processor.
It's a Socket 754 processor. I want a better one because the one I have isn't the to great. I was looking on ebay for socket 754, there are some on ebey selling between $15 and $50.
Is it possible for me to get better processor for my laptop?
Will any of these processors work for my laptop?

Have you upgraded the RAM in the notebook as well? You have to remember:
[a] AMD Semproms are not too bad in terms of performance. Intel's equivilent Celeron M is much worse.
[b] The faster the CPU, the hotter the laptop will get unless you go for a Core [2] Duo or equivalent [I paid £450, or $900 for a laptop with a fast Core Duo-based CPU and 1GB of RAM]. Laptops are not generally designed to be upgraded much.

A year ago I upgraded from 512 Mb of memory to 1 Gb.
The main reason I want to upgrade is so I can play a few newer games.
Right now my computer can hardly play any games from 2004 on up,
I blame this all on my processor and graphics card.
I've heard that AMD Athlons are pretty good for playing games.
Here are the specs of my current processor.
