Default Can I jumpstart a computer

I was just thinking. Since it is going to be a while before I get a power switch for my gx400, Is there any way that I could use a jumper to start the computer. Here is a diagram of where the power switch will plug into the motherboard.
Maybe there is a way that I can plug a jumper onto the power connector that is on the motherboad.

Any Ideas?

Yes this is possible. If you press the power button you actually connect the 2 pins and then disconnect them. So you could also do it with a jumper. Put it on the 2 pins of the power switch and remove it again. That should turn the system on. If you need to know the correct pins, then look into the manual of the motherboard for the power switch item.

I don't have a manual for this computer so I just tried different things.
So I had the power pluged into the computer and push in the jumper and out until the computer started up, the computer starts up but the monitor doesn't display anything on the screen.
I replaced the video card and it still didn't work, I put a new monitor on and it still didn't work.
What's the problem? Does anybody know what I need to do?

Ah... I meant if the computer's video output worked beforehand - sorry! [I'm tired and it's near the end of the week... will you forgive me? ]

I don't know if the video card works. It came with the computer.
I am going to play around with the computer and see if I can get it working.

Good luck - and if the comuter makes bleeping noises while it boots up, it may indicate a problem. Let us know about them and we can diagnose them [or try a Google for 'dell bleep codes']

There are no beeps. It just sounds like a normal computer booting up. I took out the memory and then started it up and it made beeping noises, so I put the mem back.

I am tired of working on this computer. I can't find out what is wrong with it. I've posted the problem on dells forum and nobody will reply. I'm going to bring it to the computer shop, and if they say that I am going to have to pay them to tell me what the problem is, then I'll just tell them that they can have the computer.

Do you have integrated /onboard video, then an add-on video card?

Have you tried resetting the Bios to default settings and using the
onboard video?
