| But...it's not. I think we're talking about DDR2 800MHz RAM (aka PC6400)? I just bought a 2GB kit (2x1GB) G.Skill excellent quality RAM for $100 from newegg--I think it's even cheaper now.

| I see, I was mistaken in thinking you were talking about DDR2 800--what you're talking about is Rambus RAM--that's what Dell uses as their proprietary RAM--it's so expensive because (a) it's not mainstream, and (b) because computer companies use it as opposed to regular DDR, DDR2, or SDRAM. If you're looking for RAM for a normal (aka non-dell) computer, then this won't work.

| Suggestion: Buy the RDRAM in matching pairs. If I'm not mistaken you cannot mix them. I've worked on several PC's with RDRAM and they were all SCSI IBM's. The speeds were much faster with that type of RAM. I wish I had one of those now. ASPIRE3000, if you want to sell the Dell, let me know. |
