Hi there viswanathgs,

Firstly , welcome to CompuForums. I hope that you can visit our forum often in the future and post - rather than just receive our advice, fix your problem and then disappear - doing so is unfair and rude, particularly to those who have helped you. We provide our help for free, and all we ask in return is that you participate in our forum and refer your friends, or consider a premium membership.

This is a common issue we have, and almost always the problem is due to wear and tear on the drive. How old is the laptop, and is it still under warranty?

Well, fitting the drive yourself may void your warranty. I suggest you get your faulty drive replaced under the warranty before you replace it - otherwise if you find the one you fit breaks down, you still have another one to fall back upon.

Without knowing the specific model laptop you use, we can't tell you which drive to get - different laptops use different connection standards
