AMD for me. More power, less cost. Overall a better deal.

Though, it should be mentioned that Intel is great if you want to do multimedia rendering, just throw a lot of clockspeed at it.

I am currently running AMD and have had no problems in the past 2-3 years, but when building my new computer I will be using Intel. It's technology has become far more superior over last year or so, I'm sure AMD will come back with something great, but for now, I prefare Intel

when will that be though, and can they catch up and steal it. Its sort of like the xbox 360 and ps3, ps3 is far more superior, but xbox has a great time advantage

I too was an AMD loyalist growing up. Intel just felt like the "Yankees" of computing. Too much money and not enough output (hehehe). But, I was also swaying by the Core 2 Duo...and have on running this rig. It's just a great line of processors.

I think that Core2Duo really has swung the results in Intel's favour. Even Core Duo was great, and my cut down core duo [Pentium Dual Core is the marketing term] is speedy. But there are plenty of rumours that AMD is cooking up something to fight back with, and they might become the king of the CPU companies again... we'll just have to wait and see!

Intel does have quad and it would depend on what you are doing if it would blow amd out of the water p.s. amd is coming out with a quad soon.

I am going to have to say AMD. Cheaper, faster than Intel, and with the classic processors (Athlon vs P4), they don't overheat as much. I haven't tried a Core 2 Duo so i have no clue how they perform.
