Hi there honeylakeflyer

Welcome to CompuForums! It's great that you have chosen to become a valued member of our community.

I hope that you can visit us and post often in the future - it helps us to grow, and it's only fair that if we help you, you help us. If you need any help using the site or have any suggestions that would help improve your experience, them please do not hesitate to contact us.

It could be possible that you've fried your CPU and will need to replace it - did you follow the standard procedures for dealing with ESD [electrostatic discharge]? Your CPU is the most delicate and sensitive component of your computer and should be handled with care. Secondly - was the replacement entirely compatible with your socket type? If it is, check you are inserting it the right way. The model number of your motherboard/computer and the new CPU would be helpful. However, I doubt that the old one will be usable now.

Default CPU Seat

As Admin wrote below, the CPU may NOT be properly seated -- reamove the CPU and reinsert it (carefully). This is a common problem with Slot-1 CPU's.

Also, inspect the gold leads (pins) to insure none are bent, if the CPU is a ZIF socket.

If all else fails, take the PC to a local dealer and have it diagnosed.
