Default Lost hdd partition, where has my 60GB gone?

Hi Please help, I have just built my computer and installed windows with only one problem.

When asked during inital windows set up if you want to creat a partition on the HDD I said yes and put in 190GB (i have a 250GB HDD) thinking it would also show me the 2nd partition of 60GB. But the 60gb is missing / windows does not see it, how do you go back and set up the second partion for the 60GB of missing HD?

Please help me as I am not sure how to do this.

Thank you :-)

The space is there on your drive, but it hasn't been allocated yet. A partitioning application will set this up for you - try GParted - it's free. GParted -- Welcome

If you have any trouble using it at all, please let us know and we'll assist you

Arrow Windows XP Tools

Hi. If you are using Microsoft Windows XP, there is no need to obtain a 3rd. party disk management utility. There is a tool build in (inherent) in Windows XP.

Follow these instructions: Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, and in the left column select Disk Management. A window on the right hand side will open showing all your drives. At the top of the list will be C:, and the bar will show UNPARTITIONED space. Select that area by right clicking, and selct format. The computer will probably prompt you to confirm the partition in addition to the format.

BE SURE YOU ARE CLICKING ON THE UNPARTITIONED SPACE on the right side of the bar, and not the "C:" partitioned space.

Hope this helps.
