Default Possible Soundcard problem.
Hey All,

After some time of using my Acer (Windows XP) computer, i hear a click from the speakers and i have no sound. So i have to log off anf log back on. Do you know the reason why this could be happening?

I don't know why this could be happening, but try reinstalling the drivers for your sound card--should be on a support disk that came with the notebook, or at least on the Acer website.

Hah, my bad. I didn't know Acer made desktops... Okay, did you try the support disk that came with your DESKTOP... LOL.

Acer do actually make a few desktops along with projectors, media centres, PDAs and lots of other fun bits of equipment. They're also related to the BenQ brand [I believe they brought them out]. However they're best known for their laptops.


And yeah, I'd try a driver re-installation first.

I think there is a driver on windows update. So i will do that.

I updated the driver and rebooted. Then i had no sound, it wasn't listed under the control panel. So i went into hardware manager and it gave an error code of 10. So i did a system restore and it's got the sound back. But still this problem.

Default no, don't go through windows update
Windows update is a poor method of updating/reinstalling drivers. Go to the Acer website directly and download the proper driver for your desktop's motherboard. Hope that works.
