Thumbs down What CPU Can I upgrade too

Have a HP Pavilion 7955 which currently has a

Pentium 4 1.5 GHz 400 FSB
Socket Type - mPGA478

HP stated that they've only tested up to 2.0GHz

WHY can't I upgrade to 3.0GHz & 800MHz FSB or higher.

Not looking to get a new Computer just looking to see if this one can be upgraded for a small price($100). Just added 512 MB of RAM for $60.

Please if any one could provide any input I would greatly appreciate it.

Jeff

Hi there,

I'm assuming that you are running Windows.

Can you run a program called CPU-Z and post screenshots of the CPU and Mainboard tabs? This will help us judge what upgrades your computer can support.

You can download the program from:
http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-136.zip
You don't need to install it, just extract the ZIP and run cpuz.exe.
