I have been using paint.net recently for all my graphics/imaging work and have found it to be extremly easy to use and has lots of great features, and also its free which is great,

However I am now finding that maybe I need something a little more powerful and advanced. I need to be able to do air brushing to touch up photo's and portraits.

What im not sure is, which software do I go for. Some people are telling me Photoshop is the way forward, but ive heard its so hard to use. Others told me about the GIMP, which I tried and absoloutley hated it.Im also aware that there is PaintShop Pro and Corel etc but I just dont know what to go for.

I will generally be using it to touch up photo's including airbrushing and also creating graphics using a tablet.

Any advice or suggestions would be great

For tablet graphics, there's nothing better than Xara:
