Im having trouble opening excel, right when i open excel the error box pops up stating the "excel has encountered a problem...". I tried reinstalling office but that same error box pops up. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

im running xp pro, office 2000 sr-1 premium. i noticed this problem just this morning. i reported it to microsoft and also sent them an email. i tried re installing office but the same error is given when trying to open the program. all other office programs open with no problem.

uninstall it first, then reinstall. Might i suggest also using OpenOffice? its really nice and usually doesnt come across problems at all.

Hi Shaymoney - does the error come up when you try to launch the program itself or when you try to open an Excel file?

when i try opening the program. i went on microsoft.com and they say to delete the user account and recreate it, but if i delete my account, will i lose all my programs and files?

back up the files first and you shouldnt loose the programs as long as you make a new account first.
