Default I'm stumped

Ok, so lately I've been having a major problem with my PC; It will be on for a while and I'll be in the middle of doing something, all of a sudden it will freeze up, the sound will get garbled, then the sound shuts off and I'm left with a screen that looks like a bunch of tiles of what was showing on the screen before it froze and I have to turn off the machine manually in order to restart. I just built this rig in January and everything accept 2 of my hard disks is brand new (and those two hard disks aren't even the ones I'm running windows off of), the Machine was working perfectly fine till about a week ago then this started. Anyone have any ideas on what this might be or where i could start looking for the problem

It's a Raidmax X12V power supply with total wattage output of 450W

Have you checked to make sure it is giving the proper wattage?

i hear a lot of guys saying their rigs freeze with the last sound repeating, and some of their screens will straight shut off, others will just flip shit. we've agreed many times its the psu, and usually it solves the problem. ur video card doesnt seem like it should take THAT much power, but im buying a new power supply here soon, cause i built my rig in jan too, and i have a 8800. putting some money into good power is a good investment. prevents things like what your going through from happening, and also in general it prolongs the life of your parts.

thanks for the help guys, how do i make sure it's giving the proper wattage though? and just to clarify i don't have a graphics card it's G force 6100 integrated on the main board, not sure if that makes a difference or not.

actually im not sure if that makes a difference or not. i would imagine if your graphics weren't integrated they would take the same amount of power? the only reason i know i need a new psu, is because my video card alone needs 400W to run. i have a 500w psu. maybe google ur parts? see how much power they consume, although idk if you would be able to find that information out. maybe someone else will be able to say how to check power consumption. well good luck with the whole thing, and keep looking around, ask some more forums and what not.

With it being intrigrated it would take less power then if it wasn't, but I would check the wattage of your PSU. To do this you need a multimeter.

A multimeter or a multitester, also known as a volt/ohm meter or VOM, is an electronicmeasuring instrument that combines several functions in one unit. A standard multimeter may include features such as the ability to measure voltage, current and resistance. There are two categories of multimeters, analog multimeters and digital multimeters (often abbreviated DMM.)
A multimeter can be a hand-held device useful for basic fault finding and field service work or a bench instrument which can measure to a very high degree of accuracy. They can be used to troubleshoot electrical problems in a wide array of industrial and household devices such as batteries, motor controls, appliances, power supplies, and wiring systems.

Absoloutley Nothing. I got the Information from Wikipedia to answer the question as it was easier that explaining it myself. This question could have been easily answered if the user googled it or searched on Wiki.
