Lightbulb ReadyBoost for Windows XP

Windows Vista offers “ReadyBoost” so that you can use a thumbdrive for additional memory. Now you can get eBoostr for XP for free (four hour uses at a time, or purchase the full version)

eBoostr allows you to use an additional drive (flash memory or hard disk) as another layer of performance-boosting cache for your Windows XP. There is no need to purchase a Vista upgrade to get the benefits of the Vista’s ReadyBoost technology.

I have tried this and it seems to work well, I noticed a considerable difference on my windows XP machine. You can get it here eBoostr.com

Is it just for flash drives or could I use my USB 250GB hard drive? What does cache file size up to 4GB mean?

You can use a flash drive or you could use a small section of your external hard drive, although i think you may need to create a partition the size of what you want ready boost to use. Windows XP seems to work ok up to 4GB of System memory but anything above that and things start to not work properly. So if you say have 1gb ram installed then you wanna look at using anyting below 3gb to make sure it works okay i.e. 2.9gb or something similar.

I'm not up with partioning so maybe I will just use a flash drive. If I could get 2GB instead of 1GB I would be very happy.
