Umm... it is built into windows!! Ever since XP. You can select the files you want to copy to a CD, and then Right-click one of them, choose SEND TO your CD writer drive. I don't remember if writing for DVD's is native (I've slept since then). Then in My Computer, open the CD Drive (Also add a blank CD-R/W in the drive), on the LEFT, chose WRITE THESE FILES TO CD.

But you can do a search on Tucows for burning software.

For ISOs, you might want to try this PowerToy:
ISO Recorder v 2

Note that it does not install an entry in your Applications that you can select. Instead, you browse to the folder with the ISO in Explorer, right click it, and choose "Burn as ISO" [or similar wording].

This program came on my laptop - it's called Sonic - it kicks ass, one of the best programs I've ever used in terms of ripping, burning, etc.

It's better than Nero IMO.

As long as I know, Sonic isn't free. Nero isn't free as well.

But to be honest I've never used a free software to burn cds/dvds. I've been using Nero without any problems.

id say if your gona be doing a significant amount of iso burning put in the dough for a program like sonic or nero. Fast and simple as can be, no hassle, neat package and you know it legit unlike some programs you find out there on the net.

I couldn't tell you if it was or wasn't, though it works great.

If it wasn't free, I bought it - so buy it - worth the $.

(Talking about Sonic btw)

I use alcohol 120, though that's only for images. I find it to be fantastic though. It has great emulation functions as well. You should check it out... it's great at bypassing copy protection It is however an excellent burning solution. I use it all the time to burn to DvDs and CDs
