| Has anybody had any experience with Vista's own backup system? From the little Ive read, it doesnt seem too hot. I'd be interested in anyones first hand experience. If its not up to the job, can anyone recommend a better and safer alternative? |

| I have used Dantz Retrospect products with great success in the past for Windowed systems. Dantz is now known as EMC Insignia. Vista's backup system is nearly non existent when compared Mac's Time Machine. But you can give Dantz a try for windows...they offer some pretty good solutions. |

| Sorry to hear that. Ive made my own recovery discs (surprised theyre not provided with a new laptop but thats a different subject) as a precaution. Im sticking with Vista. Quite happy with it now, no problems apart from an Email stuck in outbox and couldnt delete it. Found a fix for it though so no real hassle. |

| Vista's backup has worked reasonably well for me, but I still would not recommend Vista to anyone who is getting a new computer. It is too much hassle and too much money.

| No I agree, it needs to be said that XP rules, especially when it is compared to Vista.
