Howdy Budha,

Welcome to the boards. A question for you. Are you sure you have a CD-R or a CD-R/W? If it only states CD or CDROM, but does not state R or RW or Recordable or even ReWritable, you may well have a player, and it will burn a disk about as well as a 1988 Sony Diskman.
Secondly, Am I to assume you are using Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP or Vista? Some don't support burning disks in the OS, and require the use of software by the device provider (adaptec ez-cd, Nero). As an example. I have a DVD Burner. Windows will not recognize the disks, I must start the Nero software that came with the drive, before I can recognize or burn a DVD.

Thanks,
