Upon startup I get a msg that Windows Installer is installing PhotoGallery and or Fax, then it wants the disc that it is located on. What disc is this and how do I get rid of the msg. Everything seems to be working okay.

That would be the disk you used to install Windows.

Would that be a Windows XP repair install?, I'm somewhat of a novice.

If it's asking you for the location of certain files, just put the disk in when asked for the location of files, click Browse, and select your CD-ROM drive.
