Default Vista 32bit Constantly changing res...

hi all,
i have had problems CONSTANTLY with windows home premium vista 32 bit OEM DVD original, my last pc,amd3500,did it, so does my new amd 3600 dual core.

i load vista, and then the CD rom from nvdia, update the drivers, set resolution(my TV,LG42"LCD through VGA) i displays ONLY 1154*568(on old Pc this setting came up,not new) or 1280*720.

but here is the kick. i go to controlpanel/set resolution, i click 'apply' then 'ok' resolution changes, all good.

then i restart, back to 600*800,did it on both PC's.

if i restart enough, it returns if im lucky, tonight 2 times.

i have 'rolled back' driver, it worked, untill i restarted, the resulition settings just dissapear! basic 600 by 800,1024 by 768 ,or maybe 1280 by 1024 if im lucky.

i updated via vista update, all good, set 1280 by 720,apply,all good, till i restart...same thing.

i then went to nvidia, selected my graphics card(inbuilt 128 megs) and same thing, all settings return, untill i restart...WTF???
last pc stabailsed after a few months, but hy does it do it?

tackster, now with less hair then before vista...(yes i should of stuck with XP and upgraded to MCE version for my TV recording(love mce in vista...god its good)
