Default Music in Games

Hey i didnt really know where to put this so ill put it here. I make flash games and im just wondering if its legal to put music from (well known) bands in your game. I heard there was some legal problems and i was just wondering if u guys knew anything about this.

I would think once u buy a song u should be able to do what ever you want with it

Yes, but people who are playing your game and listening to it did not buy the song, and therefore are stealing. It is OK if you dont intend on releasing the game, but if you are, either write your own music or find non-copyrighted stuff.

Well, I can't be bothered to look up laws, but you can provide free music demos, so long as they are under 30 seconds in length. If you publish full songs, the original song must have stopped being sold. Also, it differs from country to country, and Youtube probably has servers in all different countries, so it is legal in some places. Then again, I may be completely wrong,

what about the thousands of music videos uploaded to youtube everyday? would they have a license from every single artist that appears on it?? i think u should be fine with having the music on a flash player game.. i think it only becomes an issue when u provide a soure to actualy download the song... however i could be very wrong.. and fines for this type of stuff is in the hundreds of thousands so maybe just check it out on the copyright website for your country

People such as youtube get many copyright enforcement problems, however people like launch and mtv have sufficient licensing. It would cost alot to license a game, so your better off with free music ;-)
