What operating system do you run?
Do you have any software installed at all that currently does this?

Fludie, it sounds like you may have downloaded something that poses as a system cleaner that is actually spyware I suggest these products...
Antivirus: Free antivirus - avast! 4 Home Edition Download
Antispyware: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx
Firewall: Free Firewall Software - Comodo™ Firewall
General system cleaning: CCleaner.com

Can you please tell me what ccleaner does. It says it deletes stuff like temp internet files, but will it delete anything I need? It sounds like it's great, but I don't want to delete stuff I don't want to delete.
