Default My recommended software

AVG Free Edition - really good free virus scanner
Spybot - search & destroy - great free spyware remover
Registry booster - helps your computer boot faster by fixing registry problems
Diskeeper - awesome defrag program, defrags the whole think in less than an hour

Registry booster and diskeeper both cost money, but are worth it. AVG and spybot are both free and really useful.

I dunno if this is of any interest to anyone, but these are the programs I've found most useful, and I've tried a lot over the years.

Can is suggest a sticky thread is made about free software available so that people can see what free options they have for different jobs and people can give their experiences with software and recommend some?

Default Free Security Software

Thanks for the post. AVG and SpyBot SD are two commonly used Internet Security software apps, and highly recommended by many Members of CompuForums.org These posts can generally be found in the Website and Website Development Forums. It's just a matter of searching for them.

There has been several recommendations made to the Administartion here (Hi Ash ... Hi Rob) regarding a Forum that posts nothing but free software and software reviews. Possibly this is an area (free software forums) the Administration would rather not deploy. In a sense, this is understandable because such a forum would contrast with the purpose and design of CompuForums.

Hopefully, Ash (the Forums Admin) won't kick my butt for this, but such a comprehensive list of such software can be found on my signature > Free Software > Security Applications.

(Ash, if your reading this, I didn't insert my home page hyperlink )

Anyhow, thanks jamsoup for the post, and we really appreciate the recommendation. It's good to know that you are using quality software and protecting your computer against virus' and spyware. Keep up the good work with your System Maintenance.
