Default Speed Problem

Hello!

I have an ADSL connection, where I checked its download speed at several speed test websites, the results was around 300 kbps.

The problem is whenever I try to download any thing, from any website, using (Internet Explorer) and (Free Download Manager); the speed does not get higher than 20 kbps.

So it seems that the problem is from my computer not from the websites or from the connection.

Please any help is appreciated.

Firstly, welcome to CompuForums

If you have a questions or problems feel free to send me or any other mod/admin a PM and we'll do our best to help you.

The users on this forum will happily help you as much as we they with any computing problems that you may have, all we ask in return is if you would try and help out other members who ask for advice, and if that you have a good time whilst your here!

A lot of the time it does depend on where you are downloading from. If you get the options to select a mirror to download from, make sure you always chose one that is near by to you.
I'm not sure if it is just me or not, but I find my downloads to be faster in FireFox then in Internet Explorer.

Jam

firefox also works very well for me. if that doesnt work...try calling ur isp and see if 300 kbs is correct. you can also see about downloading from a mirror near you (as stated above) and from dif servers (i.e. mozilla, yahoo, google, etc.)
