Depends on what you call satellite... If you mean a dish pointed to a point on the horizon, then not bad, but still depends on the weather. If you mean a dish utilizing actual satellites, then it's download was nice (last time I checked) but it's upload was Dependant on the phone-modem used to send your requests, emails....
For the former case, there is a nice RF tran/siever that needs to be installed in your house, an antenna to point at the main source. The source usually has up to a radius of 15 miles for service. Beyond that, the horizon becomes too variable for proper transmission, unless they jack their antenna up quite a bit higher (100 ft or more).
