Default CoolText

Ok I ran across this site it is very good for signatures and banners. I used it to make my signature Ultra_Man at the bottom of all my posts. So check it out and tell me what you think.

Here is the link.

A teacher in my old school showed me this website ages ago. It's ago, but nothing stunning is produced by it, your better off using fireworks or photoshop, its good use of GD though!

Default CoolText Graphics

I found it useful in making animated GIF images/banners, quickly. They offer quite a number of features (text size, color, background color, etc). I still haven't mastered that technique on an installed app. I suppose if I really wanted to, I could do so but just haven't had time.

The banner I use (below) I quickly created with Microsoft Picture IT! Express 7.0 Man I love that simple piece of software, and it's so hard to find now.

Thanks Ultra_Man.

I've also found it useful in the past. Nothing beats experience in a particular graphics program [and it's the person, not the program - when you enjoy a good meal you don't think to yourself "the chef must use an excellent set of pots and pans!"], but CoolText is great for making things like headers and signatures. It's a lot easier when you want to create an attention grabbing heading but don't want to go to the trouble of loading a graphics application, creating the heading, and then exporting it.

Ehh this is a ok is, you could make these images they supply easily in Photoshop/Fireworks/GIMP or even Paint if you wanted to ( except the GIF's ).
But for people who are not good at graphic's at all this is good.

Yeah I used CoolText when I was a n00b13 webmaster about 4-6 years ago.

It still is a good resource, IMO, for free online graphic generation. They are nothing fancy but look a lot better than casual text. Personally I used it a lot in school this year for PowerPoint Presentations; it gave me an edge over everybody else's.

These days, graphics are everything.

I've always personally hated it whenever I've seen a website with a CootText generated banner. It's one of my personal pet peeves.

Any graphic you produce should be original, not something easily generated online. It's a great resource for new webmasters, mentioned above.
