Cool music download sites

ok, before i start, sorry if there is already a thread asking this, i tried to search but couldnt get the search box to work (dont know if its just me, or what) but anyway,
does anyone know of any good websites to download music (whether you have to pay or not, im not really fussed) im just looking for a website with a lot of choice ie wide range of genres (and fairly easy to follow, as im fairly new to downloading)

would welcome all suggestions as there are so many site to choose from.

Well first off CompuForums does not allow or incourage any illegal activity.Second there is Napster which you pay $0.99 per download.

well first off, i know that compuforums doesn't allow or incourage illegal activity.
there are some music download websites, that are legal but are infact free, the music just isn't by famous bands, they are unknown artists trying to get recognised. but there music is equally good. but thanx for napster, ill check it out.

There is also free filesharing software available - there is copyrighted content easily downloadable from it, but of course we discourage you from doing so and only encourage the use of P2P for content which you may legally download.. I personally recommend Ares: .:: Ares - [Home] the ultimate p2p filesharing software ::.

Limewire used to be good until it became totally infected with malware - Ares seems to be immune to it.

Another alternative for Limewire is Shareaza, it's not as fast as Limewire, but is has a lot less viruses, practicly non. I still using it.

Limewire is fine, as long as you're careful about what you download and have decent antivirus software. However, with Ares you don't have to sift through a load of trojans and ads just to find what you want.
