| The information on this site is a lot of copy and paste. The site owner uses ContentLink (the links with double-underscore, when your curser rolls over it, an advertisement pops-up). I believe the site is Ad-driven (the web page code is uneven, and can be distinguished between what was written by the author, and what was copied from other sources by the author). In 6 to 12 months, this site will probably turn into an Ad-Farm. Last edited by Tom; 05-06-2007 at 10:30 AM. |

| A lot of advertising - but Linux.org is the official site I believe. Still, they should not have Google Adsense and ContentLink ads on the same page - that's against Adsense rules.

| Should I delete the thread as due to advertising?

| No - there's a lot of good content, despite the site being laden with ads. At one time though, Linux.org was virtually ad-free.

| Linux . ORG has some great content, and to be fair, I dont think the advertisements are to intrusive although there does seem to be alot of them.

| Ulta_Man, the linked webpage to Linux.org is good, and they have many excellent tips that will help. It's just there are some issues with them in their advertising. Over the years they have been a good source of information. I never thought they would implement PAID advertising in NON-LINUX products as heavily as they are now. To see a good website like linux.org go down-hill due to advertising is unfortunate. For example, say I wanted to know the scrip to clean up core files. Well, its there, and the information is accurate. However, it's unfortunately ad-driven, which of couse is one of their sources of income. Linux.org at one time use to be self-sufficient and driven by User Donations. Slowly they've evolved into what they are today. If only they could generate income in other ways than annoying pop-up advertisements. Once again -- Good Post and I appreciate the link, and your contribution.
