Very handy guide - lots of them floating around on the web, and I've disabled many of the services I don't need.

I definitely need to do that. I have taken care of my startup programs, but haven't gotten around to the services. Thanks Ultra_Man!

Default Great Thanks

I have always wondered how to stop programmes running as they take up so much of the memory on my computer, I have had aol tips which tell you which ones to close, but you can bet that you will be shut down before you have completed them lol.

Thanks buddy. Good find, and very useful. For those who don't know how to access their Service pannel, here is the path in Wind. XP:

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

Right clicking on a service with bring an options sub-menu to work with the commands. If the Service is running, first Stop, then select Manual/Disable.
