| Hi folks, I have been trying for sometime now to install a windows update called, Security update for windows Media Player 10 for windows xp (KB917734) I can get it to down load, but can't get it to install. Now the new version 7.0 is showing it needs to be installed also, but it won't install either. Up untill this MP 10, I have had no problems with windows updates. Any ideas how I can fix this problem? Thanks, R.N. |

| Have you considered upgrading to Windows Media Player 11? I heard it was out and if installed, it certainly won't need the MP 10 update. I'd give it a try.

| It's still a beta but I have found that it is stable. When you run the install wizard, it automaticly downloads any updates your system needs.

| Tried to install windows media player 11 as suggested, but kept getting an error message (8007F00D) Computer won't let me install the new 7 version either. It will allow me to download these two updates, but not install them. Any help is appreciated. R.N. |

| Is your computer running a "genuine" copy of Windows? Microsoft are preventing people with "non-genuine" copies of Windows from getting the updates.

| You should only be prompted to verify your copy of Windows once. If that process continues to appear then it isn't remembering what happened the time before. I would clear out your temp files and cache and try again. See if you can download WMP 11 after doing that.
