The good overwhelmingly outweighs the bad when it comes to the Internet. We have a huge network of information that can be accessed at any time and there have been thousands of jobs created and thousands of businesses that have had success due to the Internet. Sure it has it's negatives, like gambling, pornography, scams, viruses, and another outlet for children to not be physically active, but there are much worse things in the world than the Internet and there are too many positives to call it bad overall.

all these opinions are fine - the real "weighted" facts and figures would give you the answer. how could you quantify it. how much money is made and how much money is lost. how do you put a value on somebody being raped that wouldn't normally be raped. i would agree overall its a good thing. im just saying - ask the rape victim. it is a window to the soul - so to speak !!

How we utilize this phenomenom in my own beliefs, is to make sure that we as our own individuals use the internet as a constructive place to hopefully better ourselves, or even save gas instead of driving everywhere to get things. As far as the exploitation of the internet, from credit card stealing and pedophiles, we have to be our own judge of character to make sure that we are doing the right thing when we do things in this environment. A few years ago, I bought some things on EBay, well as it turned out, I bought a few things from one individual, and a few things from another individual. Well, as it turned out, they were husband and wife running different companies. The things that I purchased from the wife's company went with what I purchased from the husband's company. They were all excellent deals! They e-mailed me to let me know that there would be a surprise in the box. They sent me $20 back in cash, to thank me for the business I had given them both. Of course I left excellent feedback. My point is, there are more good people on the internet, let alone the world than bad people. Given the attention that has been given to situations involving crimes committed due to internet usage, I believe that there should be an even better watch dog to monitor internet usage. If we can read a licese plate from outerspace, if we can monitor everyones telephone conversations, then we can monitor the internet environment. It is an enclosed entity.
I agree totally with the points that you have raised and there are so many good things to do with the internet, and like with all things in life there is good and there is bad. But the good does out weigh the bad i beleive as far as the internet is concerned. Its also probably worth pointing out that the internet has also been responsible for solving a lot of criminal offences as well as causing them.

I voted good, but it can be sometimes 50-50

There is a lot of hatred on the internet, and it can be very distracting. But I wouldn't be able to game online if it wasn't for the internet... so yes its a good thing

Another point on this subject - Alot of facts tend to get burried in the internet. not by the more intelligent (thinking) people. But, by the less intelligent (Non-Thinking) people. Sometimes that misinformation - has far wider reaching ramifications than most people think. especially when politics or political issues are involved.
