I think that by 2008, the standard will be at least 500GB - we are increasingly using our computers for entertainment and many people use them as a personal video recorders... and with high definiton TV on the way, the new storage will come in handy

Why not buy a TerraStation from Buffalo? 1 TB of space on a network drive that can be either 4 seperate 250gb Drives, 1TB Striped drive or a RAID 5 assembly... If I could afford it I'd get it, and then have Compact Flash drives in my pcs to make them quiter and then network boot via a simple bit of firmware on the Compact Flash drive!

Sorry I edited your post I did it by accident, Dunno what I was thinking lol, I put it back to how it was!

I'm sure that by this time next year 500GB drives will be "the norm", and 1TB drives won't be that uncommon.

yeah so have i, holographic discs can hold up to 300GB. it will be coming out late this year.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/11/24/maxell_holo_storage/

by the end of 2008-9 they would have the technology to make 1.6TB holographic discs.

in my other post, i refered to BD discs. they can hold up to 54GB in case you didnt know.
