Default Processor problems

Hi there

I want to buy myself a new processor because my games are starting to lag. So i have my eyes on one but is unsure if it wil work with my motherboard..

The processor:
w ww.nivo.co.za/#buy~intel.pentium.dual.core.e5200.2.5ghz.processo r.bx80571e5200.~p13008/]NIVO Interactive Shopping

My motherboard:
ww w.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d945gtp/sb/CS-026628.htm#pentiumd]Intel® Desktop Board D945GTP - Supported Processors

What do you think.

Thx

Your mobo does have a socket775 but according to Intel it only accepts Pentium D and Pentium 4 cpu's. The fine print on the bottom of the page states using anything else may damage the board. This mobo also has onboard video so unless you have installed another video card it also could be slowing down your games. If the games worked before and have since slowed down it would probably be because the hard drive is getting full and defragmented. Perhaps someone else here will know more.

Sorry to say but all the ones I looked up that work with that mobo are no longer available. I think you are going to have to get a newer mobo and cpu.
