| I'm about to order all the parts for my first build. I'm building this computer 95% for gaming. Usually the latest games, like Call of Duty 4, etc. Now, I have a budget of about $700. But before I do, I want some of your opinions on the CPU/Motherboard/Memory/Power supply. CPU - Intel Quad core Q6600 = $200 Mobo- ASUS P5N-D LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI ATX = $150 Memory - Patriot Signature 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) = $66 Powersupply/Case - RAIDMAX AZTEC ATX-619WBP Black/ Silver SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply = $110 Video Card - GeForce 8800 = $180 All this stuff adds up to $706, which is more than I want to spend. Plus I still have to pay for the harddrive, and CD burner. I really need you help, if you have any good combinations of CPU+Motherboards that would be great for gaming, please tell me. Thanks a lot. anyone want to help .. ? Last edited by Mr Pickles; 07-14-2008 at 05:41 PM. Reason: Double Posting |

| Only suggestion I can offer is to get the ASUS P5K LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard which is on Newegg for 129.99 which saves you 20$ on the MoBo. And with the extra $20 from that spend it towards more RAM, pick up CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) for 86.50 That way you'll still be in your $700 margin and it all should still run optimally. The RAM you have listed is basic DDR 184 pin, which isn't compatible with the motherboard you and I listed. The MoBo has 4x240 pin slots. A Corsair 2x2GB OR Kingston 2x2GB would be your best bet. I think the Kingston 2x2GB are listed for 85.99 but not entirely sure. Hope that helps.

| the cpu u have is fine its a good price but you should be able to overclock it which will make you happier in the end. (im going to be doing that ________________________ This user added the following: ________________________ truthfully since u want to make a gameing pc you should b ready to spend a little more like at least $900. Also if you wont really be multitasking much then you might want to consider a duo core because it will run games a little better since the quad core wont need to use all four cores just to play game...but if you are going to be multitasking and gameing the quad will give you better overall performance. so overall your prices should be dropped while you're not really losing too much in performance, i'm not sure any games take advantage of the quad-core yet anyway, just give them time and they'll drop in price too |

| Might want to check TigerDirect.com - Computers, Computer Parts, Computer Accessories, PC Components, & Electronics for bundle deals. Some include mobo, cpu, and memory for very reasonable prices. |
