| So the 900 is Celeron and the new 901 has this Atom processor? I read that the 901 battery is clocking in at 7.5 hours. Do either of them have a DVD/CD drive? I seem to remember someone telling me they don't so how do you install software? External optical drive or what?

| //This message is coming from my eee. You don't get a CD drive, but you can install any Linux Distro or XP using a memory stick or an external drive. I used a SD card to install XP on here, and you can install software by either copying it to a memory stick or just downloading it from the web.

| Bring on the ATOM. I can wait!! |
| ||||
| The Atom is slower, it'll be more expensive and I doubt the battery estimates will be as high as stated - Asus might pull the trick they played on eee 900 Users and include a low capacity battery.

| Hmm... Im not too sure. Will wait and see. Hopefully it will be better than the 900. I await with anticipation. |

| ATOM? :S And you really don't need a CD/DVD ROM. I don't miss it at all on my eee. JAM

| Actually you are right Jam - I could easily live without a CD/DVD ROM. I just get attached to my bits and pieces and don't like giving anything up! Ahhh... remember when we had a slot for a 3 1/2 inch floppy?

| i saw one of these eee pc's at harvey norman the other day but i didn't recognise the OS. didn't seem to do much either. it came with pre-set applications and it didn't seem very appealing. If you were able to install ubuntu as stated in above posts it would be much cooler |
