i just bought a big hard drive 500 gb
can anyone tell me how hard it is to install. i have windows xp pro sp2

Okay, so it should be as simple as plugging your IDE cable into it, and then into your M/b.
If you are having it as your secondary HDD, with Windows XP on the other, then make sure your new 500GB HDD is set to secondary, and your XP set to primary.

Just to ad to Jams post if its SATA you don't needt to set primary and secondary and if its IDE in order to set those things you just have to set the jumper on the Hard Drive to primary and secondary. There should be a diagram on the drive.

By primary and secondry we Mean Master and Slave. Just thought id add that as most drives have the option stated as Master and slave
